PALEO CHIPS AND SALSA. YUP!

By Lisa

Ask anyone that eats Paleo what “non-Paleo” foods they miss and the top three items will usually include 1) beer, 2) pizza, and 3) chips & salsa. Am I right? It’s easy to replace cider for the beer and there are some paleo pizza options, but I’ve never found a replacement for chips & salsa…..until now!

I posted the Paleo Lime-Cilantro Pork Taco recipe a few days ago. Have you tried it yet? It’s FAMAZING. Really. (As a side-note, we tried to recreate these tacos with beef, using beef broth. Eeeeew. It was like beef-stew tacos. Don’t do it!) When a recipe is good, I will eat it for a week straight. No lie. The second day I ate my pork tacos, I thought, “Wouldn’t this be great with chips and salsa?” Then I was like, “Never mind. You’re Paleo, silly.”

It was dinner time for Cameron (my Paleo Baby) and I gave her some plantain chips with her meal. I mindlessly tried one and guess what? That thing tasted very similar to a corn tortilla chip! (I haven’t had a “chip” in so long it might not be all that similar, but I’m telling you – for me it was like I just grabbed a bag of Mission Corn Tortilla Chips.) I never tried plantain chips because I thought they would taste like bananas. Guess what? They don’t taste like bananas.

I was so excited, I poured a bowl of Sprouts Organic Fire Roasted Salsa and (literally) ate the rest of Cameron’s plantain chips. That probably wasn’t the best choice, but it’s been a really, really long time since I had chips & salsa. Try it! You’ll be so glad you did.

yummy! I have to go on the Paleo diet for medical purposes, and I really missed out on this. Seems like a good idea, I’ll check it out 🙂

This one is simple. Go buy plantain chips. Open a jar of paleo-frienly salsa. Dip plantain chips into salsa. Enjoy!
